Meeting of traditions in Caleta de Fuste

On Friday, the Antigua City Council, through the Tourism department, will organize a Canary Traditions Encounter in Caleta de Fuste. The event will take place in the Plaza del Castillo from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

The program of activities will include a variety market, Canarian wrestling exhibition, traditional games, popular creation of a salt carpet, children’s workshops, and a free tasting of Canarian products. The Tourism Councilor, Deborah Edgington, also announced that attendees will be able to enjoy popular Canarian music performed by the Folklore Group of Tetir El Rincón, the parranda El Callao, and the rondalla (traditional Canarian music group) of the Senior Center of Antigua.

Mayor Matías Peña García emphasized that this encounter is part of a busy month of May filled with important events. He also mentioned that Canary Islands Day will be celebrated on Friday, May 26, and a Grand Baile de Taifas (traditional Canarian dance) will take place in Antigua on Saturday, May 27, providing a splendid finale to close the month.

In addition, it offers a diverse program that families residing in the area, municipality, and the island can enjoy.
