Cabildo defends anti-doping controls, criticizes handling of positives.

The Cabildo of Fuerteventura has defended the necessity of anti-doping controls in sports competitions while criticizing the management of positive test results that postponed the island’s final lucha canaria (Canarian wrestling) event. Insular Sports Councillor Luis González emphasized the importance of maintaining fairness in competitions but questioned the administrative handling by the Canarian Wrestling Federation, particularly regarding four adverse analytical results reported, including two from Fuerteventura. He indicated that the lack of effective notification concerning precautionary suspensions, combined with increased tension among fans, necessitated the postponement of the final as a precautionary measure.

Fuerteventura, part of the Canary Islands, is known for its rich cultural heritage, including traditional sports like lucha canaria.
