Lola García, the president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, stated that there are over 500 individuals with recognized dependence awaiting assistance on the island. Speaking on the program La Voz de Fuerteventura on Radio Insular, García defended the awarding of the Social Concert for home care for dependent individuals, emphasizing that it is an extraordinary procedure handled by a technical committee composed of specialists, lawyers, and social welfare personnel, without political involvement.
García assured the AFFA association and the broader third sector that the organization will continue receiving economic support from the Cabildo. She also publicly expressed gratitude for the work AFFA has done over the years to support individuals affected by Alzheimer’s and their families and caregivers.
Fuerteventura is known for its beautiful landscapes and is part of the Canary Islands in Spain.
