A Key Infrastructure for Water Management in Fuerteventura
The ongoing construction of the buffering tank linked to the Purified Water Treatment Station (EDAR) in Puerto del Rosario is set to reach completion before the next summer. This was confirmed by the Canary Islands’ Counsellor for Territorial Policy, Manuel Miranda, during a visit to the facilities, accompanied by the municipality’s mayor, David de Vera, and the municipal services councillor, David de León.
This initiative, driven by the General Directorate of Water within the Government of the Canary Islands and valued at approximately 1.5 million euros, aims to regulate the flow of wastewater into the treatment plant. The primary goal is to prevent incidents of overflow when the facility reaches its capacity limit, allowing for the optimal utilization of treated water—a particularly valuable resource on an island like Fuerteventura, which faces unique hydrological challenges.
