Organized by the City Council in collaboration with the Lanzarote Presa Canario Club, the event attracted over 40 Presa Canario dogs from across the Canary Islands. The Main Event: Canine Exhibitions and Contests
The highlight of the weekend occurred on Sunday, May 17, in the vibrant Plaza de Haría, where the canine exhibitions and contests took center stage. The day began with a thorough health check conducted by veterinarian María Yurena Santana, ensuring that all participating dogs were in optimal condition. Following this, the Emerlan canine unit showcased their impressive K9 rescue skills, captivating the audience with their teamwork and training.
As the day progressed, the jury began evaluating the dogs in various categories, culminating in the finals of the contests. The excitement was palpable as owners cheered for their beloved pets, showcasing the strong community spirit that the event fostered.
Contest Highlights and Winners
In the puppy category, Nerón, owned by Vitorino Rodríguez, took home first place along with a special mention. Following closely were Danko, owned by Yonatan Fernández, and Roque, owned by Daniel Calero. In the female puppy category, Lava, owned by Ginés Cedrés, secured the top spot, with Roca, owned by Daniel Calero, finishing in second place.
The competition continued with impressive performances from young dogs, where Milo (Samcor), owned by Jonay Ramos, claimed first place and the MSO distinction. The female category saw Bocaina, owned by Marcos Cáceres, emerge victorious, followed by Isora de Torres del Conde and Nubia.
In the intermediate class, Mencey, owned by Airán González, won first place in males, while Taima, owned by Jonay Ramos, triumphed in the female category. The open category concluded with Gofio, owned by Marcos Cáceres, being crowned the winner and receiving the coveted CAC award.
The event’s highest honor, the BIS (Best in Show) award, was bestowed upon Covadonga (Fencing Dog), owned by Azarías Álvarez, who became the grand champion of the Haría Canine Event 2026.
