A Cultural Haven: The Inauguration of Puerto del Rosario’s Biblioplaya

On July 1st, the long-anticipated Biblioplaya of Puerto del Rosario officially opened its doors, offering a delightful blend of beachside relaxation and the joy of reading. Located at the picturesque Playa de Los Pozos, this unique initiative aims to enrich the summers of both residents and tourists by providing a space dedicated to literature and cultural activities. Spearheaded by the Ayuntamiento de Puerto del Rosario and the Concejalía de Cultura, in collaboration with the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, this project has the potential to become the cultural centerpiece of the summer season.

A Beach Library for All Ages

Running from July 1st until August 30th, the Biblioplaya will be operational Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with extended hours on Wednesdays to facilitate evening visitors. The library boasts an impressive collection of over 500 books, catering to a range of interests and age groups. Visitors can find everything from novels and comics to daily newspapers, ensuring that there’s something for everyone. The welcoming space encourages not just reading but also community interaction.

Engaging Activities for All

To further enhance the experience, the Biblioplaya has curated a series of activities designed to engage families. These include workshops on fine motor skills, board games, jewelry making, origami, balloon twisting, recycling projects, and even game creation sessions. Such a diverse range of activities ensures that visitors can enjoy quality family time while nurturing their creativity and curiosity.

David de Vera, the Mayor of Puerto del Rosario, expressed that the Biblioplaya is more than just a reading space; it’s a unique venue where citizens can enjoy literature in a scenic and relaxing environment. He warmly invites everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to unwind by the sea while diving into their favorite books.

Juan Jiménez, the councilor for culture, shared his enthusiasm about how this initiative has become a summer staple in Puerto del Rosario. He emphasized that the venue provides easy access to a vast selection of books and newspapers, seamlessly integrating reading into visitors’ beach days.

Rayco de León, the Cabildo’s councilor for culture, reiterated the importance of supporting the Biblioplaya initiative.
