Celebrating Pride: ALTIHAY Fuerteventura’s 2026 Events
In a vibrant display of love and solidarity, ALTIHAY Fuerteventura is set to make its mark on the streets with a two-week celebration in honor of LGTBIQ+ Pride 2026. Under the theme “Be Free,” the events promise a rich tapestry of cultural, sporting, and recreational activities that aim to uplift and unify the community.
A Night of Recognition: The Orgullo Awards 2026
One of the highlights of this year’s Pride festivities is the prestigious Orgullo Awards, an annual event celebrating individuals and organizations that exemplify the spirit of equality and diversity in Fuerteventura. The award ceremony, supported by the Fuerteventura Council’s Department of Culture and Youth, along with the Equality, Diversity, and LGTBI+ Department of Puerto del Rosario, will take place on Thursday, June 25 at 20:30.
The event will be hosted at the Centro de Arte Juan Ismael in Puerto del Rosario, ensuring an ambiance that embodies the artistic flare of Fuerteventura. This year’s ceremony, produced by CLAPSO Producciones, will feature the charismatic Amor Romeira as host, alongside an exciting performance titled “Una Noche en Magdalá, Cabaret Redentor.” This will undoubtedly add an extra layer of festivity and art to an already special occasion.
Honorees and Their Contributions
The Orgullo Awards will recognize a diverse range of individuals and organizations who have made significant contributions in various fields:
- IES La Oliva will be honored with the EDUCACIÓN ARCOÍRIS 2026 award for its commitment to promoting inclusivity in education.
- Onda Fuerteventura will receive the COMUNICACIÓN ARCOÍRIS 2026 award for its efforts in enhancing visibility and representation in media.
- José Concepción will be awarded the CULTURA ARCOÍRIS 2026 prize for his impactful work in the arts.
- The Concejalía de Igualdad, Diversidad y LGBTI from the Puerto del Rosario City Council will take home the COMPROMISO CON LA DIVERSIDAD award, acknowledging their ongoing efforts in supporting and advocating for LGTBIQ+ rights.
- Additionally, the M. de política territorial y memoria democrática and the Cabildo de Fuerteventura will receive the MEMORIA ARCOÍRIS 2026 award, celebrating the importance of remembrance in fighting for equality.
- Lastly, Pedro Esquivel Gallardo will be awarded the accolade ERES NUESTRO ORGULLO, highlighting individuals who inspire pride in the community.
In a powerful move, ALTIHAY Fuerteventura will also present the “Ladrillo Rosa 2026”. This symbolic brick serves as a denunciation of anti-woke policies and LGTBIQA+ phobic narratives. It underscores the ongoing dialogue around discrimination and the fight for equality.

Due to limited seating, those wishing to attend the awards ceremony must register in advance. Interested participants can secure their spots by filling out the registration form here. This ensures that everyone has the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the community together.
The Heart of the Celebration: Pride March
As a centerpiece of the Pride celebrations, the LGTBIQ+ Pride March will take place on Sunday, June 28 at 11:00, starting from the Playa de los Pozos in Puerto del Rosario and concluding at the facade of the Cabildo Insular de Fuerteventura. This year’s march is replete with purpose, themed “Fuerteventura against hate and LGTBIfobia. To the streets with pride!”
This march not only marks the International Day of LGTB Pride but serves as a platform to commemorate decades of advocacy and achievements within the LGTBIQ+ movement in Fuerteventura. It emphasizes the crucial need to protect hard-won rights, especially amidst rising hate speech and prejudice.
Voices from the Community
Carla Soto García, the president of ALTIHAY Fuerteventura, encapsulated the spirit of this year’s Pride events. She said, “Orgullo is the living memory of those who came before us. It’s a reminder of early marches, police raids, and broken silences. Today, against setbacks and the worrying loss of rights around the globe, we remain resilient, visible, and vigilant. Our future is not penned with fear, but with dignity, freedom, and all forms of existence. This is yet another reason to gather and celebrate together during the Awards on June 25 and the Pride March on June 28.”
With anticipation building, the community looks forward to engaging in these meaningful events, uniting to celebrate love, diversity, and the ongoing fight for equality.
