Puerto del Rosario Hosts the Inclusive Program “Healthy Routes: Discover Our Heritage” for the Third Year

Discovering “Rutas Saludables: Conoce lo Nuestro” in Puerto del Rosario

The Health Area of Fuerteventura is once again embracing community spirit with its exciting initiative, “Rutas Saludables: Conoce lo nuestro.” For the third consecutive year, this program—facilitated by the Primary Health Promotion Network (RedPSAP)—is set to enrich the local community in Puerto del Rosario by combining physical activities, social inclusion, and a deep dive into the region’s rich heritage.

A Community Initiative for All

Running from March to June, this free program aims to attract a diverse audience, especially focusing on individuals with functional diversity within the municipality. Participants will have the unique opportunity to explore various locations in the capital through accessible walks, engaging cultural activities, and friendly sports encounters.

Organized in collaboration with the Association of People with Visual, Auditory, Physical, and Psychical Disabilities (ADIVIA) and the City Council of Puerto del Rosario, the initiative emphasizes collaboration and inclusivity.

Educational Engagement and Community Building

What makes “Rutas Saludables” even more noteworthy is its active involvement with local schools and community centers. Each edition invites students from specialized classes and users from the Day Center for People with Disabilities, both part of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura. This collaborative effort fuels an atmosphere where different groups and generations can interact, fostering a sense of community cohesion.

The initiative seeks not only to enhance physical well-being but also to facilitate spaces for cohabitation and participative community engagement, breaking down barriers and creating connections among various societal segments.

Upcoming Activities from March to June

Set to kick off on March 13, this year’s activities start with a cultural route through the historic center of Puerto del Rosario. Participants will delve into the fascinating history of the capital while enjoying the great outdoors.

Following this introductory event, the program has an exciting lineup:

  • March 20: Head to La Asomada for a day dedicated to traditional bola canaria—a culturally rich activity that promises fun for all.
  • April 24: Explore El Time with an adapted walk, ensuring accessibility for all abilities.
  • May 22: Discover the vibrant Canarian culture through an engaging activity planned in Puerto Lajas.
  • June 12: Conclude the program with an exciting day focused on Canarian wrestling at the traditional wrestling venue in Puerto del Rosario.

Promoting Community Health

The RedPSAP echoes the importance of such programs as integral parts of the Community Health Promotion Strategy within the Health Area of Fuerteventura. Their goal is clear: boost collaboration among the health system, social entities, and local administrations to create healthier communities.

ADIVIA emphasizes the significance of fostering accessible and inclusive environments, allowing individuals with disabilities to participate actively in the community. The City Council of Puerto del Rosario also stands firm in its commitment to initiatives that aim to construct a healthier, more cohesive city.

Joining the Movement

For those inspired to take part in this enriching experience, registration is open. Interested individuals can easily sign up online at ADIVIA’s website or reach out via email for more information on how to get involved. The accessibility and community-driven nature of this initiative allow everyone to be part of something greater, promoting wellness and togetherness in exceptional ways.
