Enhancing Public Lighting in Puerto del Rosario: A New Initiative

The town hall of Puerto del Rosario is stepping up its efforts to improve public lighting across the city, a move that reflects its commitment to enhancing both safety and quality of life for residents. Through a dedicated service company, an ambitious plan has been set in motion to upgrade the lighting on four of the capital’s busiest streets. Currently underway, this project involves the replacement of 171 light fixtures, aimed at boosting illumination levels and reinforcing safety for both drivers and pedestrians.

The Streets Benefiting from the Upgrade

The lighting improvements are being carried out on several key roadways: Secundino Alonso, Avenida de la Constitución, Juan de Betancourt, and Virgen de la Peña. Residents and commuters can expect to see the old lighting replaced with state-of-the-art fixtures that are not only more efficient but also provide far superior luminous capability. With projected increases in light flow of over 60%, and up to 80% on Secundino Alonso, these upgrades promise to significantly enhance visibility throughout these crucial urban corridors.

Remarks from the Mayor

David de Vera, the mayor of Puerto del Rosario, has expressed strong support for this initiative, emphasizing its importance for the local community. He stated, “These initiatives are a priority for our government team. It’s not just about aesthetic improvement; it’s a fundamental issue of safety and well-being for residents who travel these streets daily.” He underscored that the upgrades represent a qualitative leap in the city’s appearance while also responding to citizen demands for better-lit public spaces.

Technical Details of the New Installations

The new lighting fixtures being installed range from 68 to 79 watts, allowing for this significant increase in illumination quality. The designs prioritize both energy efficiency and sustainability, ensuring that while the quality of service is optimized, the environmental impact is minimized. Through this project, the town hall aims to contribute to energy savings and reduce its carbon footprint.

Commitment to Energy Efficiency

David de León, the councilor for Municipal Services, provided further insight into the technical aspects of the project. He highlighted the balance that has been achieved between enhancing service and adhering to regulations. According to him, “We are very pleased with the noticeable improvements already seen in these streets. This project allows us to make a significant leap forward in lighting quality, enhancing visibility and safety.” He pointed out that all improvements comply with the regulations on energy efficiency for outdoor lighting, ensuring that the new fixtures are not only brighter but also more efficient and sustainable.

A Vision for Modernization

In undertaking this lighting upgrade, the town hall of Puerto del Rosario reinforces its commitment to modernizing public services and continuously improving urban spaces. The initiative champions advanced technologies that merge energy efficiency with high-quality service, reflecting a forward-thinking approach to urban planning and community welfare.

By focusing on both the operational aspects of public lighting and the aesthetic benefits for the city, this initiative paves the way for a brighter, safer urban environment where residents can thrive.
