Festival Fuerteventura en Música: A Celebration of Culture and Community

This weekend, the picturesque Playa de la Concha in El Cotillo is set to transform into a vibrant hub of music and culture as it hosts the 19th edition of the Festival Fuerteventura en Música (FEM). Taking place on July 4th and 5th, this festival promises an impressive lineup of both international and local artists, making it a much-anticipated event in the cultural calendar of Fuerteventura.

Dynamic Lineup of Artists

The festival will kick off each evening at 8 PM, featuring a diverse range of performers. The charismatic Elisabeth Charlotte will grace the stage as the host, bringing her unique charm and authenticity to the event. The first night, July 4th, features artists such as Rabiche, Natalia Doco from Argentina, and the collaborating musical force known as G-5, which includes renowned artists like Kiko Veneno and Muchachito. The night will close with energetic performances from Calle Mambo and Lehmanns Brothers.

The following evening, July 5th, promises to be just as exciting with David El Majorero-Contraventura, Roy Paci & Aretuska, and Queen Omega & The Royals Souls taking the stage. Concluding the festival will be sets from Baiuca and Kraak & Smaak, ensuring that music lovers will have an unforgettable experience.

Cultural Impact and Local Engagement

The President of the Cabildo, Lola García, expressed her excitement about the festival, highlighting its significance in the cultural landscape of the island. She noted that the FEM is not just a musical event but also serves as a cultural melting pot that showcases local artists and contributes to the local economy. This focus on community and cultural exchange is central to the festival’s mission, positioning it as an event that fosters connections between various cultures.

García also acknowledged the collaborative efforts with the La Oliva Town Hall to ensure a safe environment for attendees while respecting the natural landscape of the area. Mayor Isaí Blanco echoed her sentiments, emphasizing the festival’s role in transforming El Cotillo into the artistic focal point of Canary Islands for the duration of the event.

Additional Cultural Activities

In addition to the musical acts, the festival will feature a diverse array of cultural activities aimed at enhancing the community atmosphere. Organized in partnership with the Asociación Cotillo Joven, these activities will enliven the historic town center of El Cotillo during the day, inviting locals and visitors alike to partake in the festivities. Luzma Nieves and representatives from the orchestra expressed their eagerness to invite everyone to join in on the daytime programming, which complements the main musical events beautifully.

Transportation and Accessibility

To facilitate attendance, the Cabildo of Fuerteventura has organized a special bus service, ensuring that festival-goers can travel safely and conveniently to and from the event. This thoughtful initiative not only enhances accessibility but also underscores the commitment to making the FEM an inclusive experience for all.
