Miguel Ríos, a legendary figure in Spanish rock music, has once again hit the road with his captivating performance in Fuerteventura, part of his much-anticipated El Último Vals tour. Set to take the stage this Friday, November 7, at 8:30 PM, Ríos will be featured in the stunning Arena Negra Festival, situated on the picturesque beach of Gran Tarajal in Tuineje.

As a trailblazer of rock in Spain, Miguel Ríos is not just revisiting the past but also introducing a fresh sound with his new electro-acoustic album. Accompanied by four talented multi-instrumentalists, Ríos blends rock and country into a singular auditory experience that promises to enthrall audiences. This unique combination is a testament to Ríos’ dedication to evolution in his artistry.

Expressing his excitement, Ríos reflected fondly on his previous visit to Fuerteventura, recalling a performance in Puerto del Rosario back in 1992. He shared, “I have great memories of that time. It was an eye-opening experience. I got to know the north of the island, and now I am eager to explore the south.” His nostalgia encapsulates the essence of musical journeys shaped by personal connections to places and people.

Ríos went on to highlight the respect and admiration the people of Fuerteventura hold for their homeland. “At that time, I was struck by the locals’ deep appreciation for their land,” he said. He also acknowledged the significance of festivals like Arena Negra, which promotes ecological awareness and community values. “Fuerteventura is a marvel of conservation; it is truly a sanctuary,” he added, emphasizing the island’s commitment to preserving its natural beauty.

‘El Último Vals’

The album, El Último Vals, is a collaborative effort between Ríos and renowned producer José Nortes, recorded entirely at the iconic Black Betty Studios in Madrid. This project represents not just a musical endeavor but also a personal challenge for the artist, showcasing his resilience and ongoing passion for music after a distinguished career spanning over 65 years.

Ríos made it clear that ‘El Último Vals’ is not a farewell album. On the contrary, he expressed his joy in continuing to create and share new music, stating, “I have become the senior figure in rock. I’m thrilled to keep writing fresh songs. It has been a long journey, full of ups and downs, and rising again is an incredibly beautiful thing.” His words reflect not only his enduring spirit but also the richness that comes with a lifetime devoted to music.

The El Último Vals tour leads him through some of Spain’s most prestigious venues, including Barcelona’s Liceu and Madrid’s Circo Price. However, the upcoming performance at the Arena Negra Festival promises to add a special vibrancy, making it a landmark event in the cultural landscape of the Archipelago.
