Record Participation and Enthusiastic Support

The II OCR Danger Extreme attracted an impressive 232 athletes who participated in both the Elite and Popular categories. This event was designed not only as a test of physical endurance but also as an opportunity to explore the island’s stunning landscapes. Spectators gathered in droves at the beautiful beach of El Castillo, situated in the natural reserve of Caleta de Fuste, to cheer on the athletes as they conquered a six-kilometer course laden with 35 challenges.

Innovative Obstacles and Dynamic Course Design

As a part of the Canary OCR League, the II OCR Danger Extreme boasted an exciting revamped layout, which included a more dynamic inflatable castle than seen in the previous edition. Participants in the Elite category faced the added challenge of scaling a vertical climbing wall along with navigating a rope descent—two standout features of this thrilling race. The setup transformed the competition into an exhilarating blend of land and water challenges, incorporating elements such as suspended obstacles and archery, which tested the limits both physically and mentally.

A Celebrated Success

Samuel Torres, the sports councilor of Antigua, expressed his excitement over the event’s success, stating, “It has truly been a phenomenal experience, with every athlete deserving of the title of champion. The race was both fun and challenging, and I want to extend my congratulations to everyone involved.” His sentiments were echoed by Romina González, president of the organizing committee CD Más Eventos, who thanked the unwavering support from the Antigua City Council, the Canary OCR League, and Puerto Castillo. Her acknowledgment highlighted the critical financial backing from the municipality, which funded 90% of the event.

A Promising Future for OCR Events

The II OCR Danger Extreme has left an indelible mark, striking a balance between excitement, complexity, and festivity that surpassed even its inaugural run in 2023. The enthusiasm surrounding the event has set the stage for future developments and new initiatives in the coming seasons. Thanks to the collaborative spirit between the CD Más Eventos and the Antigua municipality, this thrilling sport will undoubtedly continue to flourish in the beautiful landscapes of Fuerteventura.
