Fuerteventura’s Revival: Jandía Golf Reopens as a Vital Hub for Tourism, Sports, and Gastronomy
Fuerteventura is experiencing a revival that transcends mere infrastructure; it embodies a return to a cherished lifestyle. The recent reopening of the Hotel Jandía Golf by Livvo and its revitalized 18-hole golf course marks a transformative moment for the southern region of the island. This iconic venue emerges from years of silence, now vibrantly filled with the sounds of lively conversations, cheerful golf swings, and sunset toasts.
A Heartfelt Renaissance
This revitalization is powered by an impressive investment of approximately 12 million euros, reflecting not just financial commitment but the passion of Miguel Ángel Donaire, the heart of this project. Donaire, alongside a dedicated team, has worked tirelessly to resurrect Jandía’s former glory. Key contributors include Adolfo Mira, the golf course’s manager and greenkeeper; José Charro, the architect behind the redesign; Oliver Rodríguez, the industrial engineer; Miguel Ángel Seoanes, the site manager; and Juan Silva, the hotel director. Their collective effort, described as “a brazo partido,” is evident in every meticulously crafted corner of the complex.
A Grand Inauguration
The reopening ceremony brought together nearly 150 guests from social, institutional, and business circles across the island. The event, expertly led by Héctor Alemán, Operations Director of Livvo, included key figures such as Marlen Figueroa, the Tourism Councillor of the Cabildo, and Alejandro Jesús Jorge Moreno, the Mayor of Pájara. The atmosphere was charged with emotion, culminating in a heartfelt applause and the traditional ribbon-cutting.
Culinary Excellence Awaits
Jandía Golf is not just about sports; it’s also creating a new culinary landmark with the opening of the 19 by Pellizco restaurant, located in the former clubhouse. Under the guidance of acclaimed chef Rigoberto Almeida, named Chef Revelación of Canarias 2025, diners can expect an exceptional culinary experience. This addition underscores that Jandía is not merely a destination for golf but a locale where exquisite dining takes center stage.
The Golf Experience Redefined
From a sports perspective, Jandía Golf reclaims its identity as an authentic links course. The design challenges players with wind-swept fairways and strategically placed hazards. Each hole requires careful consideration and respect, especially the photogenic yet demanding hole 2. Notably, the new layout features the tees of holes 1 and 10 conveniently located near the hotel, alongside a panoramic terrace next to the ProShop. This setup encourages visitors to linger, swap stories, and celebrate their love of golf.
The Return of a Destination
With the reopening of Jandía Golf and its accompanying hotel, Fuerteventura reestablishes itself as a crucial destination where tourism, sports, and gastronomy beautifully intertwine. This revival is more than just physical infrastructure; it revitalizes a community and offers a vibrant atmosphere where visitors and locals alike can relish life under the sun. From golfing enthusiasts to food lovers, Jandía Golf promises a multifaceted experience that truly reflects the essence of Fuerteventura.
