A New Era in Luxury Accommodation: Atlantis and Kempinski’s Partnership in Fuerteventura

In a significant development for the hospitality scene in the Canary Islands, Carlos Cebriá, the president of Grupo Atlantis, announced an ambitious plan for a new luxury resort in Fuerteventura. This upcoming project, which will feature more than 2,000 hotel beds, marks a major expansion of the Atlantis brand and hints at an exciting future for high-end tourism in the region.

The Partnership with Kempinski

A noteworthy aspect of this project is the collaboration with Kempinski, Europe’s oldest luxury hotel chain, renowned for its charm and elegance. This partnership aims not only to elevate the standard of luxury accommodation in Fuerteventura but also to position these hotels on a global scale. Cebriá emphasized the importance of having the expertise of a seasoned player like Kempinski to achieve their ambitious goals.

This collaboration is Kempinski’s first venture into the Canary Islands, and just their second in Spain, following the 1999 debut of the Kempinski Resort Hotel Estepona. With 43 operational hotels spread across 19 destinations in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and South America, Kempinski is well-equipped to bring a distinct European flair to Fuerteventura.

The Existing Jewel: Kempinski Hotel Atlantis Bahía Real

The resort will feature three hotels, the first of which is already operational: the Kempinski Hotel Atlantis Bahía Real. Originally opened in 2004 under the name Bahía Real, it has recently adopted its new name reflecting the partnership with Kempinski.

This five-star luxury property boasts an idyllic location adjacent to the natural park of Dunas de Corralejo, providing stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and Isla de Lobos. The hotel comprises 250 luxurious rooms, including 75 suites with breathtaking views of the sea or exotic tropical gardens. Additionally, it features three presidential suites and a royal suite, further emphasizing its luxury offerings.

The culinary experience at the Kempinski Hotel Atlantis Bahía Real is enriched by five restaurants, a beach club, and two bars, catering to a variety of tastes and preferences. Notably, the spa area, the Bahía Vital Spa, spans 3,000 square meters and specializes in hydrotherapy, making it a haven for relaxation and rejuvenation.

The Second Hotel: Kempinski Hotel Atlantis Miranda Real

In 2007, the second hotel, Kempinski Hotel Atlantis Miranda Real, is set to debut, further expanding the resort’s offerings. This establishment will also boast five-star luxury status, with plans for 395 one-bedroom apartments and an additional 27 two-bedroom apartments.

One of the standout features of the Atlantis Miranda Real will be a vast spa area covering 6,000 square meters, along with a “high-performance sports center,” catering to active guests. A significant addition is the planned 2,000 square meters of meeting and banquet space, divided into 14 rooms and an auditorium with capacity for up to 2,000 attendees, ideal for conventions and large gatherings.

Additional Amenities and Features

In an effort to enhance family and business-friendly elements, the hotel will also introduce four restaurants, four bars, and three swimming pools, which will complement the offerings of the Kempinski Hotel Atlantis Bahía Real. This commitment to catering to various guest demographics underscores the intent to create a versatile luxury destination.

The Third Hotel: Gran Playa Real

The final component of this luxury resort will be the Gran Playa Real, described by Cebriá as a smaller hotel with apartment-style rooms. This option will provide a more intimate and personalized experience, appealing to families and extended stays.

Carlos Cebriá’s vision for this luxury ensemble is clear: to establish a prominent position for five-star hotels on the world stage. The collaboration with Kempinski will undoubtedly usher in a new era of luxury accommodation in Fuerteventura, contributing to the island’s appeal as a premier tourist destination.
