Model of the future Palace of Justice of Fuerteventura (archive) | Radio Sintonía The Government of the Canary Islands has authorized this Monday the multi-year expenditure corresponding to the contracting of the execution of the works of the new Judicial Building in Puerto del Rosario, in Fuerteventura, through advance processing, for an amount of 70,011,128 euros. The execution period will be four years from the start of the works, once the contract has been awarded. The proposal from the Ministry of the Presidency, Public Administrations, Justice and Security, directed by Nieves Lady Barreto, is part of the 2nd phase of the Infrastructure Plan for the Administration of Justice in the Canary Islands 2017-2031, which proposes a series of actions aimed at rationalizing and improving the existing infrastructure in each of the Judicial Districts. Puerto del Rosario has a high rate of dispersion of judicial bodies that harms the proper functioning of the Administration of Justice and attention to citizens. Currently, the existing judicial bodies are divided into four different headquarters with no room for future growth, adding to the complications of continuing with the system of leasing premises given the limited infrastructure that can adapt to the functions of the Administration of Justice. With the aim of providing a better Justice service to citizens, the Government of the Canary Islands will undertake the construction of a new judicial building with enough space to concentrate in a single headquarters the entire Judicial Plant of the Judicial District of Puerto del Rosario, contributing to the improvement and modernization of the Administration of Justice and increasing its levels of quality, effectiveness and efficiency in the Canary Islands. The execution project is in its final review phase and allows for budget programming and the total financial amount for contracting in the amount of 70 million euros. This file will be processed by the Ministry of the Presidency in advance during the 2026 financial year with the aim that the work on the new Puerto del Rosario Courthouse begins as soon as possible.
