Betancuria and La Aldea Focus on Activities in Las Palmas – Motor Daily 7

The Federación de Automovilismo de Las Palmas (FALP) is gearing up for an exhilarating weekend packed with action, featuring two prominent competitions that will draw the attention of motorsport enthusiasts across the Canary Islands. The 13th Subida a Betancuria in Fuerteventura and the inaugural Prueba de Velocidad en Tierra Leyendas del Volante Aldean@s in Gran Canaria promise to be crowd-pleasers, with a wide array of drivers participating and races that will significantly impact the ongoing championships.

The mountain event, organized by the Clubs United of Fuerteventura, is a critical fixture in the Provincial Championship of Las Palmas for Mountain Racing. This year, it boasts an impressive turnout, with 86 teams registered across Speed and Regularity categories. Such participation underscores the significance of this majorcan event on the provincial racing calendar, making it one of the standout races of the season.

One of the key highlights will be in Category 3, where Carlos Alexis Ramos and Juan José Armas engage in a fierce head-to-head battle for the championship title. The Gomero driver, piloting a BRC 05 Evo, sits second in the standings, trailing the Gran Canarian leader, Juan José Armas, by 14 points. Armas, competing with his La Base SX01, aims to retain his leading position amidst serious competition.

In the touring car category, another notable contest awaits fans. Tenerife’s own Ángel Bello returns behind the wheel of his Audi R8 LMS Ultra Evo, determined to secure his second consecutive win, hoping to close the gap on the current championship leader, Miguel Cabral. This rivalry adds another layer of excitement to the weekend’s racing.

The registration list also includes several familiar names from the Provincial Championship, such as Ányelo Padrón in his BMW M3 E46, Miguel Ángel Gutiérrez with a Renault Clio Williams, Aron Batista driving a Mitsubishi Colt, and Felipe Gabriel González in a Peugeot 206 RC. Joining these competitors are notable representatives from Lanzarote, including Aníbal Machín and Álvaro Caballero, both showcasing Porsche 997 GT3 Cup Rallye 2010 cars.

Additionally, the Majorcan competition will spotlight the Provincial Championship of Las Palmas for Regularity Sport – Trofeo Car Home Services, which will once again feature prominently in the day’s programming. This adds another dimension of intrigue for participants and spectators alike.

Betancuria y La Aldea centran la actividad en Las Palmas

Simultaneously, the action shifts to La Aldea de San Nicolás, where the first-ever Prueba de Velocidad en Tierra Leyendas del Volante Aldean@s will unfold, organized by the Deportivo Azuatil Club with support from the local government. This event is significant, as it counts toward the Gran Canaria Insular Championship of Speed on Dirt, marking a critically competitive phase in the season. The event has attracted nearly fifty vehicles, reflecting the surging interest in this motorsport category.

Among the main contenders is the dynamic duo of Francisco Álamo and Rita Rodríguez, who will proudly display the number one dorsal on their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII. After a disappointing withdrawal in the previous round at Santa Lucía de Tirajana, they’re eager to regain momentum in the overall standings.

Competing alongside them will be Kilian and Nisamar Moreno, ready to keep their Volkswagen Golf GTI in the top ranks against competitors driving all-wheel-drive vehicles, adding to the competitive spirit of the race.

A major draw for audiences this weekend will be the car-cross category. Several competitors are making notable comebacks while others are set to debut. Provincial champion Daniel Pérez will return with his La Base SX01 after focusing on the Sandero Eco Cup Spain this season.

Moreover, the Peñate brothers, Bruno and Daniel, sons of renowned co-driver Rogelio Peñate, are slated to debut in competition, each in their own car-cross vehicles, while Ayoze Benítez will aim to defend his category leadership achieved during his last race at the Aldean circuit.

With two highly-anticipated events, strong participation, and crucial championships on the line, the motorsport scene in the province gears up for a decisive weekend, both on the asphalt of Betancuria and the dirt of La Aldea de San Nicolás. The excitement is palpable as competitors prepare to showcase their skills and vie for glory.
