In this first action, together with GMR Canarias and the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, mid-range plums were distributed among the passage of some flights with the island NewsFuerteventura Editorial Team Binter and GMR have launched this July a new initiative to promote the consumption of local products and contribute to giving visibility to the Canarian primary sector. The company begins a collaboration that will develop throughout the year through different on-board actions focused on seasonal products that will give freshness and Canarian essence to many of our flights. The first of these actions took place today and was dedicated to the medium-sized plums of Gran Canaria, which are part of the Island’s Fruit Valorization Project, promoted by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria and GMR Canarias. For this reason, on seven routes, one to each island to which the company flies and one to Madrid from Gran Canaria and their returns to the island, passengers were surprised with a selection of mid-range plums in an action that allows this local product to be brought closer to thousands of travelers and to publicize its qualities and the work of local producers. The action also included information about said fruit through a QR code that directed to the company’s on-board communication platform. This milestone constitutes the starting point of a project that will continue in the coming months with new initiatives dedicated to other representative products of regional agriculture, such as limes and mandarins in September and wine and chestnuts coinciding with the celebration of San Andrés, thus betting on highlighting the agri-food wealth of the islands. With this collaboration, Binter reinforces its commitment to the sustainable development of the Canary Islands, supporting initiatives that contribute to strengthening the local economic fabric and bringing local products closer to residents and visitors. The company understands that connectivity is not only about uniting territories, but also about generating opportunities for the sectors that are part of the identity of the Archipelago, contributing to the value of what is produced on the islands reaching more and more people, making the riches of our islands known. About GMR ‘GMR Canarias (Management of the Rural Environment of the Canary Islands) is a public company of the Government of the Canary Islands, attached to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty. Its objective is to promote and modernize the primary sector of the archipelago through technical assistance and the marketing of local agri-food products.
