Dulce García: “El Tran Tran is One of the Top Ten Clown Festivals in the World”

The Transformative Magic of the Tran Tran Clown Festival in Gran Tarajal

This weekend, the Tran Tran Clown Festival returns to Gran Tarajal, ready to turn the quaint village into a vibrant, laughter-filled stage for all. As Dulce María García, the Cultural Councilor of Tuineje, stated in an interview on the program La Voz de Fuerteventura, the festival’s success has led to surging popularity—so much so that the event is “starting to feel a bit small.” With an estimated investment of €220,000, which includes funding from various institutions, the financial return from the festival is tremendous, making it a worthy investment for the local economy.

Exciting New Features for the Fourteenth Edition

This year marks the festival’s 14th edition, bringing with it some exciting innovations. Among these is the introduction of a window display route, a gastronomic guide, and even the world’s first pompódromo—a unique venue situated in a local fishermen’s brotherhood. “The House of Chanita will undoubtedly captivate the little ones,” García highlighted, showcasing the festival’s commitment to engaging families and children alike.

The energetic Councilor described the festival’s exuberance: “With dedicated merchants, activities in every corner, and thousands of visitors, this festival uniquely mobilizes an entire village,” making it a standout event that has garnered attention globally, positioning it among the “top ten festivals in the world,” according to García.

A Festival for All Ages

The Tran Tran Festival is not just for children. The Perrakos, a lively group known for their engaging performances, will host the Fiesta Perraka on Saturday evening, an event that is rapidly becoming a favorite among adults. This “hot” show, filled with high-energy vibes, is a call to party, promising to delight attendees with plenty of entertainment. The Perrakos are on a mission to promote street art, fun, and encourage the joys of clowning for audiences of every age.

Community Spirit at Its Core

Sebas Clown, a performer from Menorca and a returning participant, emphasizes the festival’s unique atmosphere, allowing audiences to choose from an incredible array of shows. The clowns expressed their excitement about the collaborative spirit of the festival, where the synergy between patrons, merchants, volunteers, and artists creates a dynamic community. “It’s a Tran Tran family,” they noted, inviting everyone into a world that’s rich in humor and engagement.

Irene Urréjola, a volunteer representative, eloquently shared, “More than a festival, Tran Tran is a family. Here, we learn to work together, support each other, and build something that transforms our village.” This sentiment echoes throughout the event, where community involvement is imperative to its success.

An Immersive Experience

The Tran Tran Festival is more than just entertainment; it’s a life-changing experience for many who attend. “If you haven’t lived the Tran Tran, you don’t know what you’re missing,” participants remarked, capturing the essence of the festival as a joyous space where happiness spreads and connections flourish.

The festival encourages everyone to immerse themselves in the atmosphere and engage with the vibrant culture of Fuerteventura. Each performance, interaction, and laughter-filled moment works together to create an unforgettable experience that leaves attendees happier and more connected.

The Tran Tran Clown Festival is not just an event; it’s a celebration of creativity, community, and joy. From the exciting new features to the heartwarming spirit of collaboration, it offers a unique glimpse into the power of laughter and the importance of communal engagement.
