Located at Avenida Los Lagos nº23, this medical facility is currently operating in a provisional capacity. This strategic move allows the local administration to fast-track the necessary modifications to municipal regulations for a permanent structure in the future. The aim is to construct a more comprehensive medical office that will better serve the community’s health needs.
Functional Layout and Medical Staff
The new facility spans an impressive 160 square meters, featuring well-designed spaces for both medical consultation and nursing care. Essential areas including an administrative office, a treatment room, and a storage area have also been included. The operational team consists of a family doctor, a nurse, and an administrative assistant, ensuring that essential healthcare services are readily available to residents.
Meeting Community Needs
The Basic Health Zone of La Oliva boasts nearly 26,000 registered health cards, with about 1,200 belonging to residents of El Cotillo and El Roque. Previously, local residents faced the inconvenience of traveling to more distant clinics in Corralejo or La Oliva. The establishment of this medical office not only brings healthcare closer to home but also reduces the burden on neighboring clinics.

Isaí Blanco, the mayor of La Oliva, emphasizes that this initiative is a crucial step in alleviating healthcare services in Corralejo. Lola García, President of the Cabildo, highlights the pressing need for decentralizing healthcare services across the island in light of Fuerteventura’s growing population.
