The Department of Public Works, Housing and Mobility of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the General Directorate of Road Infrastructure, directed by Rosana Melián, has definitively approved the modified project number 1 of the works ‘Puerto del Rosario-La Caldereta, variant of the FV-1, FV-3 and FV-2’, in Fuerteventura, with an additional amount of 8,652,976.16 euros, IGIC included. The modification represents an increase of 9.4% compared to the initial budget, placing the total liquid budget of the contract at 100,751,879.70 euros, IGIC included. Likewise, the new work program establishes the completion date of the works as October 31, 2027. The modified project includes different actions that have been necessary to adapt the execution of the infrastructure to the circumstances detected during the development of the works. Among them are actions related to affected services, traffic diversions, maintenance and conservation of the FV-3, drainage elements, pavements and walls. In this sense, among other actions, the modification of the typology of some walls planned for the La Hondura interchange has been contemplated, replacing the reinforced earth walls initially contemplated with cyclopean concrete walls with exposed stone. The file also includes the necessary actions to resolve affected services that were not contemplated in the original project. The work, promoted by the General Directorate of Road Infrastructure, is carried out in the municipalities of Puerto del Rosario and La Oliva and aims to complete a strategic infrastructure for the mobility of Fuerteventura, giving continuity to FV-1 and improving connections with FV-3 and FV-2. The action includes the execution of the new highway and its connections, including the Antigua interchange, which allows connection with the FV-20 and with the urban center of Puerto del Rosario. With the approval of the amendment, the Government of the Canary Islands maintains the development of one of the main actions planned to improve the road network of Fuerteventura and advance the improvement of connectivity and travel safety in the area around Puerto del Rosario and the north of the island.
