Race Highlights
The atmosphere brimming with excitement started early on Sunday morning. Cyclists in the Long Distance category began their journey at 9 AM in Corralejo. The event attracted local dignitaries, including Marlene Figueroa, the tourism counselor of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, Isaí Blanco, mayor of La Oliva, and others, who were there to support the event and cheer on the competitors.
Riders faced an impressive 132.5 kilometers of breathtaking scenery, a unique opportunity as this was the first cycling road race to transit through the stunning Dunes of Corralejo.
At approximately 11:30 AM, cyclists competing in the Short Distance category set off from La Oliva, tackling a distance of 76.5 kilometers.
A Test of Endurance
The race included three timed segments, presenting significant challenges for the cyclists. Each of these segments tested the riders’ endurance and skill, with the event sanctioned by the UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale), adding a prestigious touch to the occasion.
The first timed segment started with an ascent toward Morro de la Cruz and transitioned into a rapid descent toward Betancuria, where participants regrouped in Vega del Río Palmas. After a brief refreshment stop, cyclists faced the second grueling climb, reaching the summit at Mirador de Las Peñas before descending towards Pájara and onward to La Pared.
Final Stretch
The last timed segment began at Fayagüa, leading riders to the final peak at Sicasumbre. From here, the descent to La Pared set them on the homestretch to the finish line located at the R2 Río Calma Hotel & SPA & Conference in Costa Calma, where an awards ceremony awaited.

Victorious Moments
The overall winners made their mark in this event, with Marcos García claiming victory in the men’s Long Distance category, followed closely by Daniel Kierok in second place and Alejandro Carbonell securing third. In the women’s category, Ana Belén Sendin emerged victorious, while Katrin Burow and Paula Ramírez completed the podium finishes.
In addition to individual accolades, the event recognized group participation, with C.D Velosa winning the best club award.
An International Gathering
In a testament to the event’s growing appeal, approximately 70% of participants hailed from outside Fuerteventura, underscoring the international allure of the race. Such statistics highlight how events like these draw cycling enthusiasts across borders, emphasizing Fuerteventura’s charm as a cycling destination.
Support and Sponsorship
The event benefited from the collaboration of various organizations and companies, including Hospital Parque, Nissan Grupo Ari, El Cardón, and Powerade, among others. DG Eventos handled the event’s organization, receiving institutional support from the Tourism Council of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura as part of their promotions under “Fuerteventura Biosphere Reserve” and “Fuerteventura, The Beach of Canarias.” Additional support came from the Government of Canarias and various local municipalities, highlighting the collective effort behind this remarkable event.
The Faro Fuerteventura 2025 was not just a competition but a celebration of cycling, community, and the breathtaking landscapes that make Fuerteventura a coveted destination for athletes and enthusiasts alike.
