Puerto del Rosario Launches Cultural Routes with QR Codes to Connect Historical Heritage and Local Commerce

The core technological element of this innovative project is the installation of QR codes at each participating business. With a clearly identifiable sign placed in the establishment, any user can access information about the business directly from their mobile phone, integrating it into a digital journey. As guests follow either of the two designated routes, they will be able to consult real-time historical, cultural, and commercial content, enriching their experience in the city center. The distribution of these distinctive codes has already begun, and businesses that have yet to receive them can soon pick them up at the Commerce Department of the City Council.

The Mayor Emphasizes the Value of a Project That Goes “Beyond Urban Signage”

The presentation featured the attendance of David De Vera Cabrera, the Mayor of Puerto del Rosario, who highlighted the project’s real impact. During his speech, the mayor pointed out that these routes represent a new way to explore and discover the city, stating that they “go far beyond simple urban signage”. Instead, they combine historical and cultural heritage with support for local commerce, paving the way for a more enriched urban experience.

De Vera Cabrera also took the opportunity to thank the municipal technical services for their efforts, the backing of the Merchants’ Association, and the work developed by the Department of Commerce. He encouraged both residents and visitors to navigate both routes to uncover the commercial offerings of the municipality while learning about its history and cultural identity.

The Department of Commerce Highlights the Promotion Potential for Local Businesses

The Councilor for Commerce, Tacoremi Gutiérrez, expressed satisfaction with the launch of a project that the municipal department had been working on for months. Gutiérrez explained that the routes are not only a tourist and cultural attraction but have also been designed as a direct promotional tool for participating businesses. The goal is to encourage visitors to enter the establishments, discover their offerings, and support local consumption.

The municipal official praised the involvement of merchants already participating in the initiative and invited other businesses to join a project that she believes will significantly enhance their visibility. Meanwhile, the President of the Merchants’ Association, Daniela Plotegher, emphasized the collaboration between the City Council and the commercial sector. She highlighted the importance of continuing to promote innovative projects that strengthen small businesses and contribute to revitalizing the municipality’s streets.
