Strong Winds and Coastal Warnings

Residents and visitors should be prepared for gusts that could reach very strong levels, particularly in the southeast and northwest slopes of the mountainous islands. The sea conditions are also a significant concern, leading to a yellow warning for Gran Canaria, Tenerife, and El Hierro starting at 18:00 due to expected coastal phenomena.
Minimal Temperature Changes
As for the overall weather, the islands to the north will experience predominantly cloudy skies. There’s a slight chance of drizzle in the early hours, especially in the mid-altitude areas of the higher islands. In contrast, the rest of the archipelago will enjoy mostly clear skies or minimal cloud coverage. Temperature fluctuations are expected to be minimal, with a slight rise possible throughout the day.
Expect Strong Winds and Rough Seas
On the water, northeast winds are forecasted to be between force 5 and 6, with the potential to escalate to force 7 offshore in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This is particularly true for areas away from the southern coasts and certain parts of Gran Canaria. Strong swells are anticipated, which could lead to rough seas offshore. Additionally, a northerly swell is expected, with waves ranging from one to two meters, making maritime activities potentially hazardous.
Lanzarote and Fuerteventura
In Lanzarote, the weather will start off cloudy in the north and west, but clearer skies are expected to develop in the afternoon. The southern part of the island will also see some cloud cover, though midday conditions should be mostly clear. Temperatures will remain stable, ranging from a minimum of 19 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 25 degrees Celsius in Arrecife.
Fuerteventura will begin the day with cloudy skies, which should gradually clear during the morning hours. However, clouds are likely to return to the north by late afternoon and evening. In Puerto del Rosario, temperatures are forecasted to be between 19 and 24 degrees Celsius, providing a comfortable climate for outdoor activities.
Gran Canaria and Tenerife
Gran Canaria will see cloudy conditions in the north, particularly at elevations below 900 to 1,000 meters. There’s a chance of occasional drizzle early in the morning in mid-altitude areas. The rest of the island will enjoy clear or partly cloudy skies, with some high cloud intervals. In the southern, eastern, and western mid-altitudes, temperatures could soar to around 30 degrees Celsius, making it a warm day for those exploring the island.
Tenerife will mirror these conditions, with cloudy skies in the northern regions below 900 to 1,000 meters and a low likelihood of drizzle early in the northeast mid-altitude areas. In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, temperatures are expected to range from 20 to 27 degrees Celsius, providing a pleasant atmosphere for both locals and tourists.
La Gomera, La Palma, and El Hierro
La Gomera will experience cloudy skies in the north, but clearer conditions are expected to develop in the afternoon. The rest of the island will see mostly clear skies. Trade winds will be strong in the eastern and northwestern slopes, with the potential for very strong gusts. In San Sebastián, temperatures are predicted to range from a minimum of 21 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 25 degrees Celsius, making it a comfortable day for outdoor activities.
In La Palma, cloud coverage will be present in the north and east at altitudes below 1,000 to 1,200 meters, with a possibility of drizzle in the northeast mid-altitude areas. Finally, El Hierro will also experience predominantly cloudy skies in the north, with trade winds potentially producing very strong gusts in the eastern slopes and northwestern tip.
