The vibrant spirit of Puerto del Rosario is set to come alive as the community has chosen **‘El mundo submarino’ (The Underwater World)** as the theme for the upcoming **Carnaval 2024**. This decision was made through a public voting initiative on the municipal website, reflecting the enthusiasm and engagement of local residents in shaping their cultural celebrations.

Carnaval 2024 in Puerto del Rosario is officially scheduled to take place from **February 4 to 18**. The carnival poster, titled “Pulparty,” created by the talented artist **Besay Viña González**, garnered the first prize following overwhelming support from a jury in a recent contest. Following him, Giulia Greco and Dailos Ruiz secured the second and third positions, respectively, showcasing a pool of creative talent.

The winning poster immerses viewers in the vibrant depths of the ocean, featuring a dazzling octopus, brilliantly colored and stylized, leading the festivity with smooth, flowing lines. Alongside it, an adventurous sailor joins the dance, symbolizing an enchanting fusion of marine life and carnival exuberance.

The mayor of Puerto del Rosario, **David de Vera**, praised the winning design for its originality and for incorporating notable elements from the city, such as the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary and the iconic ‘Ofrenda al Mar’ (Offering to the Sea) sculpture that beautifully represents the seaside promenade. His commendation reflects the essence of local culture embedded in the carnival’s identity.

In his accolades, de Vera also expressed gratitude towards **Tacoremi Gutiérrez**, the festivities councilor, emphasizing the importance of the artwork that will be a centerpiece of the upcoming celebrations. Gutiérrez confirmed that preparations for the **Carnival of Puerto del Rosario** are in full swing, promising a 14-day fiesta filled with unique events like the **Carrera de Arretrancos** (Backwards Race) and the **Regata de Achipencos**, aimed at showcasing the distinctiveness of their carnival.

Besay Viña’s design pays homage to the exceptional connection between the festival and the ocean. The scene is animated with vibrant corals and bubbles that swirl around the characters, creating an artwork pulsating with vitality and joy. Underwater sculptures resembling shells add an artistic flair, reflecting the rich marine life, and prominently featuring the ‘Ofrenda al Mar,’ meticulously crafted with vector details that lend a distinctive edge to the poster.
