The Buenavista Cultural Center will host today, Tuesday, May 12, the experimental workshop “Improving empathy and awareness towards people living with dementia”, a training proposal aimed at family members, caregivers and citizens interested in improving care and support for older people. The initiative is organized by Formas Nivaria SL, the company responsible for the Home Help Service in the municipality of Puerto del Rosario, in collaboration with BIEL Consulting, and will be developed through the Hands on Dementia method, a practical and immersive experience that will allow participants to get closer to the daily difficulties faced by those living with dementia. Through different participatory dynamics, the workshop seeks to awaken greater understanding and sensitivity, in addition to providing tools to improve communication and treatment of affected people. The mayor of Puerto del Rosario, David de Vera, highlighted the importance of promoting this type of initiatives “that help generate a more humane society, more aware and prepared to accompany older people and their families in processes as delicate as dementia.” In addition, he pointed out that “training and awareness are essential to improve the quality of life of those who live with this reality every day.” The training will last approximately two and a half hours and will be given in three shifts: from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The organization reminds us that “caring with empathy is not just a skill, but a decision that can make a real difference in people’s lives.” Places are limited and interested parties can confirm their registration by calling 638 386 861.
