CEIP Pajara The Pepe Dámaso Museum hosted the presentation of the documentary ‘Island memory’, an audiovisual piece made with the participation of the students and the teaching team of the CEIP Pájara, as well as residents of the municipality, within the framework of a project promoted by the CajaCanarias Foundation for the recovery of the oral memory and traditions of the Canary Islands. The documentary collects different testimonies about the Finaos tradition, obtained through interviews carried out by the students themselves with older people around them. Furthermore, during the development of this educational experience, intergenerational meetings were promoted between the students and users of the Pájara senior center, contributing to the exchange of experiences and knowledge linked to the customs of the municipality. The person in charge of welcoming the students was the Councilor for Culture, Raquel Acosta, who stated that this space is an infrastructure open to holding this type of activities, highlighting the importance of making the history of the municipality known to the little ones. ‘Island memory’ is part of a program promoted by the audiovisual production company Tinglado Film together with the CajaCanarias Foundation. The project is directed by filmmaker David Baute, winner of a Goya Award for the animated documentary ‘Mariposas Negras’, and by historian Cirilo Leal, specialist in oral history and the Canary Islands. This presentation is intended to recognize the work of all the participants in this documentary that will be broadcast on Televisión Canaria.
