Night Road Closures from 10:00 PM to 5:30 AM Over Three Nights
The Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Mobility of the Canary Islands Government, via the General Directorate of Road Infrastructure, has announced significant traffic diversions in the municipality of Antigua, Fuerteventura. These changes will take place from 10:00 PM on Monday, July 27th, to 5:30 AM on Thursday, July 30th. The closures will impact the section of the FV-20 road between the Antigua link roundabout, heading towards Puerto del Rosario, and the Risco Prieto roundabout.
This construction initiative is part of the broader works on the Puerto del Rosario-La Caldereta road, which includes the variants of several vital roads: FV-1, FV-3, and FV-2. These enhancements are among the most important infrastructural developments currently underway on the island of Fuerteventura.
Minimal Impact on Daytime Traffic
Since the roadwork will occur at night, the disruption to daytime traffic is expected to be minimal. However, it’s crucial for drivers who plan to travel through this area during the specified hours to be aware of the upcoming changes in their routes. Preparing ahead can help avoid frustration and ensure a smoother journey.
Alternative Route: FV-10
To facilitate traffic during the ongoing roadworks, vehicles will be redirected along the FV-10 road in both directions. This alternative route is specifically chosen to maintain mobility in the region while the necessary asphalt work takes place. The General Directorate of Road Infrastructure, led by Rosana Melián, has provided assurances that the diversions will be clearly marked for drivers.
Quality and Safety Measures
To further assist travelers, there will be personnel present on-site during the disruptive hours. Their role is to help facilitate vehicle passage and reduce any potential incidents that might arise from the redirected traffic. This proactive approach underscores the commitment of the local government to maintain safety and ease of travel for residents and visitors alike.
The Importance of the Puerto del Rosario-La Caldereta Roadworks
These roadworks are not just a minor inconvenience; they represent a significant investment in the infrastructure of Fuerteventura. Improved road conditions will enhance connectivity between key areas, boost local tourism, and ultimately contribute to better local economies. The ongoing construction is a testament to the government’s dedication to enhancing public safety and quality of life for all island residents.
