A Spectacular Event

Antigua, a picturesque municipality in Fuerteventura, recently hosted the exciting II OCR Danger Extreme, a highly anticipated obstacle race that captivated both participants and spectators alike. This year’s event was characterized by its vibrant and refreshing course, set against the stunning backdrop of Caleta de Fuste. Participants navigated through six kilometers of challenging terrain, overcoming a staggering 35 obstacles that tested their physical limits and mental resilience.

Winners of the Elite and Popular Categories

In the elite category, the standout performer was Yeray Cabrera Martín, representing the FuerteMonkey club. Having previously clinched gold at the European OCR Championship in Hungary, Cabrera showcased his prowess by completing the course in a remarkable time of 51:22. Following him were Luis Manuel García Pérez from the Arena Palace club with a time of 55:21 and José Damas Hernández, another FuerteMonkey athlete, finishing in 1:00:39.

In the popular category, Raúl Siles González from TeamDestroyer emerged victorious with a time of 45:11. He was closely followed by Eduardo López Dorta, finishing in 51:01, and Zebensui De La Cruz, who crossed the line at 58:29. Among the female participants, Brenda Sánchez Olivares of Endurance Cuerpo y Mente was the first to finish, clocking in at 01:09:16. Not far behind were Mariana Andrea Martínez (01:10:04) and Leticia Espino Hernández from Functional Team Fuerteventura (01:11:28).

Record Participation

This year, the OCR Danger Extreme saw 232 participants, a testament to the growing popularity of obstacle racing in the Canary Islands. The event was structured to promote physical activity while showcasing the island’s beautiful landscapes. Enthusiastic crowds gathered at the beach of El Castillo, cheering on the athletes as they tackled challenging obstacles and showcased their determination throughout the race.
