Tactical Exercises Across the Canary Islands: A Comprehensive Overview

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 1 May. (EUROPA PRESS) – The Canary Islands are set to witness a significant military presence as personnel from various units of BRICAN XVI embark on tactical exercises starting next Monday. This initiative aims to enhance security and foster community engagement across the archipelago.

Deployment Details

The deployment will see different infantry regiments stationed across the islands. The Soria Infantry Regiment 9 (RI 9) will be active in Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, and La Graciosa. Meanwhile, the Tenerife Infantry Regiment 49 (RI 49) will focus its operations on Tenerife itself.

Gran Canaria will host members of the Canarias Infantry Regiment 50, while the 93rd Campaign Artillery Regiment will be deployed to La Gomera and El Hierro. Lastly, the XVI Sapadores Battalion will carry out its duties on La Palma. This strategic distribution of forces ensures that each island receives the attention and resources necessary for effective operations.

Planned Activities

As part of the deployment, several community-oriented activities are scheduled. On Tuesday, personnel from RI 9 will hold an informative talk at IES Jandía in Fuerteventura. This initiative aims to educate the local youth about the military’s role and responsibilities.

Additionally, a static display of military equipment will take place at IES Corralejo on 11 May, allowing residents to engage with the military in a hands-on manner. In Tenerife, RI 49 will visit the San Agustín educational center on Wednesday, providing informative talks about the Tactical Group Canarias.
