The Inauguration of El Cotillo’s First Local Police Office
In a significant step towards enhancing public safety in the picturesque coastal town of El Cotillo, the municipality has officially inaugurated its first Local Police office. This initiative, spearheaded by the Mayor of La Oliva, Isaí Blanco, marks a pivotal development in the area of Citizen Security.

The space, generously provided by the Transport Department of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, is conveniently situated at the Preferred Bus Station of D. Pedro Hernández Morales. This strategic location allows for greater accessibility and visibility, ensuring that residents have direct access to local law enforcement.
Boosting Police Presence
One of the most notable aspects of this improvement is the substantial increase in the number of local police officers. The department has expanded from just 28 agents at the beginning of the current legislative term to a robust 48 officers on the streets today. This increase not only enhances public safety in El Cotillo but also aims to decentralize security efforts from the busier town of Corralejo, effectively bringing more uniformed presence to various communities within the municipality.
