Project Details

The new housing development, dubbed the “Don Quijote” project, will consist of 47 protected housing units. These homes will range in size from one to four bedrooms, with one larger six-bedroom unit designed to accommodate larger families. Notably, two units will be specifically adapted for individuals with reduced mobility, ensuring inclusivity in the housing offerings.

Financial Overview

The overall investment in this project totals approximately €6.8 million. Funding will come from various public sources, with over €6.1 million allocated by the Autonomous Community of Canarias, €450,000 from the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, and an additional €257,000 from European Next Generation funds. This multi-source financial strategy highlights the committed effort by multiple levels of government to enhance living conditions in the area.

Ongoing Commitment to Housing

Lola García, the president of the Cabildo, remarked on the broader commitment to housing, noting that the island is investing €53 million in initiatives aimed at boosting the housing sector and simultaneously rehabilitating the existing residential infrastructure. The new residential buildings will include modern amenities such as parking spaces and storage rooms, complete with fully equipped kitchens.
