The Government of the Canary Islands, through its public agency Gestión de Proyectos Turísticos de Canarias (Gesprotur), has recently concluded significant work aimed at enhancing the Centro de Interpretación de los Hornos de Cal in Puerto del Rosario. This undertaking includes the installation of a low-voltage electrical system and the improvement of the surrounding area, positioning the center as a cultural jewel in the heart of the capital.

On a recent visit to the site, Councillor for Tourism and Employment, Jéssica de León, was joined by Puerto del Rosario’s Mayor, David de Vera, and the municipality’s Tourism Councillor, Rosa Rodríguez. One contract, valued at €62,568, focused on executing the low-voltage line, which now facilitates electricity for the municipality’s Tourist Information Office and souvenir shop, amongst other facilities.
The second aspect of the project encompassed a comprehensive upgrade of both the museum’s building and its surroundings. This includes the installation of public lighting around the lime kilns, facilitated by an investment of €137,764. These enhancements significantly improve access and visibility, allowing visitors to appreciate both the kilns and the newly restored interpretation center.
