La Playa del Castillo Hosts a Historic Sporting Event
On a vibrant day at La Playa del Castillo in Caleta de Fuste, a momentous occasion unfolded for the Canary Islands sports community with the celebration of the IV OCR Danger Extreme. This thrilling competition, organized by CD Más Eventos, marked the inaugural I Campeonato de Canarias OCR (Obstacle Course Race), crowning the first-ever regional champions in this exhilarating discipline. With nearly 400 athletes participating, the atmosphere was electric, filled with enthusiasm and support from the crowd.
A Festive Atmosphere and Engaging Competition
The event was not just about competition; it was a true festival of sport, bringing together hundreds of supporters who cheerfully encouraged the participants throughout the course. The OCR Danger Extreme circuit was particularly captivating, featuring a blend of physical obstacles—strength, balance, suspension, and endurance—culminating in a distinctive aquatic section right in the ocean. Here, competitors had to display their agility and adaptability, all while maintaining the spirit of fun that characterizes OCR events.
A Spectacular Course Lined with Challenges
As they navigated the course, athletes tackled various challenges, including climbing walls, navigating suspension structures, carrying loads, and overcoming balance beams—each obstacle designed to test their physical and mental resilience. The event brilliantly melded competitive rigor with the camaraderie that OCR is known for, creating an atmosphere of togetherness and friendship among competitors.
Championship Titles and First-Time Winners
In the Élite category, the first-ever OCR champions of the Canary Islands emerged: Onán Medina from Ultimate OCR claimed the men’s title, while Andrea Martín, also of Ultimate OCR, triumphed in the women’s division. Their names are now etched in the annals of Canarian sports history as the official winners of the Championship.
In the Pre-Élite category, Efraín de la Puente from CD Functional-Tea Fuerteventura secured the male championship, alongside female champion Isabella Vidal from Ifariitas Team.
In the Popular Individual category, the victors were Iván Domínguez García and Paloma Rodríguez Mateo, who excelled on the challenging course.
Team Competitions Shine
The event also featured team competitions, with Los Guanches taking the male championship, Equipo Pasada leading the female category, and Vulkimate securing victory in the mixed category. In the Popular by Teams division, the women’s top honor went to La culpa es de nuestros maridos, while Runners Pueblo Guanche claimed the mixed title.

The IV OCR Danger Extreme is more than just a race; it has established itself as a premier event in the Canary Islands’ OCR calendar.
