The Fuerteventura en Música (FEM) festival once again transformed the picturesque beach of La Concha in El Cotillo into the island’s musical heart, attracting around 15,000 attendees over two exhilarating nights. This annual event has established itself as a highlight of the island’s cultural calendar, blending a diverse range of musical genres with the stunning backdrop of Fuerteventura’s coastline.

Electrifying Performances on Opening Night

Friday night kicked off with an electrifying set from the supergroup G-5, a quintet consisting of musical heavyweights — Kiko Veneno, Muchachito, El Canijo de Jerez, Diego Ratón, and Tomasito. Their vibrant performance had audiences on their feet, reveling in the infectious energy that defines their collective sound. The night buzzed with additional acts, including Rabiche, Natalia Doco, Calle Mambo, and the Lehmanns Brothers, each contributing their unique flair and ensuring the audience remained engaged throughout the event.

A Fusion of Styles on Night Two

The second night of the festival showcased an impressive variety of musical talent, emphasizing the festival’s commitment to inclusivity and creative fusion. Local artist David el Majorero introduced his innovative project ContraVentura, impressively merging traditional Canarian sounds with contemporary genres such as jazz, rock, and funk. His performance was a testament to the island’s burgeoning music scene and its ability to adapt and redefine itself.

From Sicily, Roy Paci & Aretuska took the stage, delivering their signature blend of Mediterranean and Latin sounds that enthralled the audience. Following them, Queen Omega & The Royals Souls captivated listeners with their powerful reggae and Caribbean soul offerings, adding to the festival’s rich tapestry of cultural influences.

The Unique Flavors of Folktrónica and More

The festival continued to explore diverse musical landscapes with performances from Baiuca, known for merging Galician folk music with electronic beats. His show was not just a performance; it was an experience that connected the past with the present, bridging traditions with modern sounds. The night culminated in a dazzling finale by Kraak & Smaak, a trio renowned for their electronic indie, disco, house, and funk sets. Their captivating performance left the audience buzzing with excitement, marking a memorable conclusion to the festival’s music lineup.

Daytime Delights in El Cotillo

In addition to the night performances, daytime programming—organized in collaboration with the Asociación Cotillo Joven—brought together around 3,000 attendees in the vibrant streets of El Cotillo. This segment of the festival further reinforced its reputation as a community-oriented event, offering activities and entertainment for individuals and families alike.

Community and Environmental Commitment

The Cabildo de Fuerteventura expressed gratitude towards the Ayuntamiento de La Oliva for their support, highlighting the collaborative spirit essential to the festival’s execution. The appreciation extended to the attendees, who demonstrated respect for the natural environment and the festival’s organizational efforts, showing that large-scale events can coexist harmoniously with nature.

Celebrating Cultural Connections Through Music

FEM 2025 embodies the idea that music transcends boundaries, serving as a bridge between cultures and a means of collective celebration. Whether through the unique sounds of local artists or international acts, the festival once again proved that it is more than just a music event; it is a gathering of hearts, a celebration of community, and a genuine tribute to the vibrant cultural landscape of Fuerteventura.
