Organized by the CD Herbania and Club Charco Herbania Atlético, and supported by the local government, including the Ayuntamiento de La Oliva and the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, the event successfully resumed after a necessary hiatus due to the pandemic.
Perfect Conditions for a Swim
The participants enjoyed exceptional maritime conditions as they tackled the iconic 3,400-meter stretch from the picturesque Islote de Lobos to the Corralejo marina. The sea was calm, the weather was pleasant, and the atmosphere was electric. Swimmers of all ages and capabilities participated with enthusiasm, and many managed to achieve personal bests, proving that hard work and dedication pay off.

Community Spirit and Volunteer Efforts
In addressing the event’s success, Inma Díaz, the president of Club Deportivo Herbania, emphasized the significant role of community and volunteer effort. She expressed pride in how the event unfolded without a professional event organization, stating, “It’s an honor to see how we, relying solely on volunteers who work for free, have managed to bring this swim to life. This shows that with willpower, we can indeed foster both amateur and federated sports.”
A Bright Future Ahead
The enthusiasm around the Travesía a Nado de Isla de Lobos-Fuerteventura reflects a larger movement towards promoting sports within the community. This event not only highlights the spirit of competition but also emphasizes the camaraderie and support present in amateur sports. With each passing year, it is evident that this event will continue to grow, influencing more people in Fuerteventura and beyond to get involved in swimming and enjoy the beauty of nature through sport.
The combination of stunning natural landscapes, community-driven organization, and the sheer grit displayed by the athletes assures that the legacy of the Travesía will persist for years to come, inspiring the next generation of swimmers and outdoor enthusiasts.
