Spain’s Nationwide Speed Check Campaign: A Closer Look
Spain’s traffic police are taking significant steps to enhance road safety with a nationwide speed check campaign that commenced on April 13 and will run until April 19. Local police also contributed by checking an additional 312,000 vehicles and issuing 14,336 reports, resulting in a rate of 4.5%.

Since the introduction of the fixed radar program in Spain in 2005, speed cameras and other measures have significantly contributed to reducing road fatalities by 75%. In February alone, 33 new speed cameras were activated across 11 autonomous communities, including 20 fixed units and 13 average-speed cameras.
