Massive Participation from Island Senior Centers
The Agricultural, Livestock, and Fishing Fair (FEAGA) in Fuerteventura welcomed an impressive gathering of 700 seniors from all over the island on the afternoon of April 17. This event has rapidly evolved into one of the most eagerly awaited occasions during the fair. Attendees represented all senior centers in Fuerteventura, including residents and day center participants from Puerto del Rosario and the Josefina Plá Day Center in La Oliva.
As the celebrations commenced, the seniors were greeted by key local authorities, led by Cabildo President Lola García. She was joined by the Agriculture, Livestock, and Fishing Councilor, Enrique Pérez, and the Social Action Councilor, Víctor Alonso. The gathering also included other council members and representatives from various municipalities across Fuerteventura.

A Folk Gathering Established in FEAGA’s Programming
During the event, the island’s president emphasized the significance of this annual encounter, noting that, “the traditional meeting with our elders at FEAGA represents one of the most eagerly awaited moments of the fair”. García further highlighted the importance of ensuring that seniors have the opportunity to connect, enjoy, and participate in their customs and music through the customary folk gathering.
