The Rise of Local Innovation Hubs: Fostering Homegrown Entrepreneurs
Fuerteventura is experiencing a wave of entrepreneurial spirit as local innovation hubs open their doors, empowering residents to transform their ideas into businesses. These dynamic spaces are more than just co-working areas; they serve as incubators for creativity, collaboration, and community engagement. By providing access to resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities, these hubs are positioning Fuerteventura as a thriving center for startups.
The impact of such initiatives extends beyond individual entrepreneurs. By nurturing a robust ecosystem for innovation, Fuerteventura is poised to attract investment and talent from both within and outside the Canary Islands. Entrepreneurs are tapping into the unique potential of the island, leveraging its natural beauty, vibrant culture, and supportive community to launch ventures that not only drive economic growth but also enhance the local quality of life.
As Fuerteventura’s entrepreneurial landscape evolves, it presents an inspiring model for other regions striving to cultivate innovation. The synergy between local talent and these innovation hubs is creating an environment ripe for success, ultimately redefining the future of business on the island.

Next Line 3 EXPRESS The Cabildo of Fuerteventura is preparing the launch of a new express Line 3 between Puerto del Rosario and El Castillo, an improvement in public transport that will allow reinforcing frequencies, extending schedules and connecting with greater security to the Nuevo Horizonte Industrial Estate, in Antigua, where the island institution promotes the first bus stop within the commercial environment itself. The Transport Minister of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Luis González, announced in La Voz de Fuerteventura, on Radio Insular, that the corporation will put into operation “an improvement of line 3 to El Castillo” through a new express Line 3, which will be covered by the electric buses already received by the insular institution. “We are going to double that line 3,” explained the counselor, differentiating between the conventional line, which will continue to reach Las Salinas, and a new fast line with fewer stops and greater agility. This express Line 3 will have five main stops: the Puerto del Rosario Bus Station, the Las Rotondas shopping center, the Airport, the preferred stop of El Castillo and the Atlántico Shopping Center. The counselor explained that two electric buses will be used throughout the day, while a third remains on charge, in a rotation system designed to guarantee service and preserve the duration of the batteries. The reorganization of the line is complemented by the entry of the conventional bus into the Nuevo Horizonte Industrial Estate, one of the most relevant developments for Antigua. González pointed out that the Cabildo will enter the polygon “for the first time” so that the stop “is moved and is safer and more comfortable for users.” Although this entry may slightly delay some travel times, the counselor defended that the extension of frequencies and the express line will allow waiting times to be considerably reduced. Without giving a specific date, the insular head of Transport announced that the new express Line 3 will come into operation in the coming weeks, once the three electric buses already registered and received by the Cabildo have been incorporated to be made available to ALSA. 22,000 new Transport vouchers in three years The announcement comes at a time of strong growth in demand for public transport in Fuerteventura. González explained that, in the last three years, coinciding with the free service, nearly 22,000 new vouchers have been issued. This increase in users has forced the Council to expand kilometers, drivers, fleet and frequencies, causing modifications that must be reflected in the project of the new tender for island transportation. The file for the future concession is pending the latest report from the National Evaluation Office, which is mandatory but not binding. The tender is proposed for ten years, with two possible extensions. It is the first competitive bidding for regular bus service in almost four decades, González concluded.
