The Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports, directed by Poli Suárez, will expand the Vocational Training offer in Fuerteventura next year with new intermediate and higher level education, double degrees, adapted training itineraries and specialization courses. This update is part of the new VET island map, designed to adjust the offer to the real needs of each territory and make it easier for students to pursue these studies closer to their place of residence. On an island marked by long distances between municipalities and population centers, supply planning takes on special relevance. The objective is to bring Vocational Training closer to the Majorera educational community, better distribute teaching by area and respond to professional profiles linked to both the productive fabric of the island and the expectations of the students. In this context, the launch of this course at the Integrated Vocational Training Center (CIFP) in Morro Jable has been a decisive advance for the south of the island, by allowing travel of more than one hundred kilometers to be avoided and improving equal opportunities in access to these studies. This new center, which began its activity with teachings from several professional families and more than a hundred students, responds to a historical demand from the Majorera educational community and reinforces the presence of vocational training throughout the territory, allowing it to increase and diversify the offer of training cycles that can be taken. The new offer incorporates into the Agrarian family the cycles of Agroecological Production and Agricultural Production, to which are added, within the adapted training itineraries, Auxiliary Activities in Agriculture which will allow the primary sector to be strengthened with qualified professionals in an area of vital importance on the island of Fuerteventura. In Commerce and Marketing, Marketing of Food Products, Commercial Activities, Marketing and Advertising are added – on a blended basis –, and the double degree in Sales and Commercial Space Management and Marketing and Advertising, thus expanding a branch with growing weight in different parts of the island. New lessons linked to strategic sectors for Fuerteventura are also incorporated. In Installation and Maintenance, the Maintenance cycle of thermal and fluid installations is added; in Hospitality and Tourism, Tourist Accommodation Management and the double degree in Kitchen Management and Restaurant Services Management; and in Sociocultural and Community Services, the cycles of Sociocultural and Tourist Animation and Social Integration. Added to this are the adapted training itineraries for Basic Operations of Accommodation Floors and Basic Operations of Restaurants and Bars, as well as the specialization course in Maintenance of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles. The offer is also completed with the double degree in Administration and Finance and Management Assistance, which reinforces the Administration and Management family and expands the qualification possibilities in a field with transversal presence throughout the island economy. In this way, Fuerteventura consolidates a more diverse offer, more distributed territorially and more connected to the needs of each area of the island. The planned expansion in Fuerteventura is part of the sustained growth of Vocational Training in the Canary Islands, which already exceeds 47,600 students and aims to exceed 52,000 enrolled next year. In this context, the Majorera island reinforces its strategic role within the commitment of the area directed by Poli Suárez for a more accessible FP, insularized and aligned with the reality of each territory.
