Boston’s New Spanish-Inspired Wood-Fired Restaurant Crowned ‘Most Beautiful’—Featuring a Barcelona-Built Kitchen and a Sunroof

Discover Dalia: A Taste of Spain in South Boston

Nestled in the vibrant heart of South Boston, Dalia is the latest culinary gem from the acclaimed Broadway Restaurant Group, helmed by Chef Nicholas Dixon. This Spanish-inspired restaurant is already making waves, not just for its delectable menu but also for its stunning design, which transports diners straight to Spain.

A Beautiful New Addition to Boston’s Dining Scene

Dalia has quickly been recognized as one of Boston’s most beautiful new restaurant openings. Designed by the talented team at Assembly Design Studio, the restaurant features a blend of hand-painted Spanish tiles, custom wallpaper, and a warm, inviting atmosphere that evokes the charm of Mallorca or Barcelona.

Erica Diskin, the owner of Assembly Design Studio, has collaborated with the Broadway Restaurant Group on several projects, including the equally stunning Prima in Charlestown. She describes Dalia as their most layered project to date, emphasizing the importance of both food and design in creating a memorable dining experience.

“We often say that great food requires depth of flavor, and a great room requires depth in its design,” Diskin notes. The restaurant centers around an open kitchen, creating a homey atmosphere where conversations naturally gather around food and cooking.

The interior features velvet banquettes beneath a sunlit atrium with a retractable glass canopy, rustic fireplaces, and lush greenery, all designed to create a relaxed and inviting space. The back room offers a more refined experience, complete with a large floral chandelier and arched windows, perfect for special celebrations.

A Culinary Journey to Spain

Dalia is not just a feast for the eyes; it also offers a culinary journey through Spain. Chef Dixon draws inspiration from his time in Spain, employing traditional cooking techniques that elevate the quality of the dishes. The restaurant specializes in “la brasa,” which translates to “cooked over embers and kissed by fire,” ensuring that each dish is infused with authentic flavors.

Owner Eric Aulenback expresses excitement about adding Dalia to their family of South Boston restaurants, stating, “We’re hoping Dalia continues this trend by expanding the dining options available in the area while enhancing the collective draw that has become the South Boston dining scene.”

Menu Highlights

Dalia’s menu features an entire section dedicated to paella, a classic Spanish dish from Valencia made with saffron rice, vegetables, and a rotation of meats or seafood. The aroma of homemade Spanish breads wafts through the air, perfectly complementing the tapas offerings.

Some standout dishes include:

  • Savory Churros with crab and caviar
  • Lubina Sea Bass from the Canary Islands
  • Empanada de Seta
  • A three-phase paella that promises to delight the senses

To ensure authenticity, Dalia’s kitchen is equipped with four Basque-style grills, a Barcelona-built Josper Kitchen, and a wood-fire broiler, all of which contribute to the restaurant’s commitment to traditional Spanish cooking techniques.

Experience Dalia

Dalia is now open at 429 W Broadway in South Boston, welcoming guests from Tuesday to Sunday, 4 PM until 1 AM (with dinner service concluding at 10 PM).

Whether you’re a local or just visiting, Dalia offers a unique dining experience that combines stunning design with authentic Spanish cuisine, making it a must-visit destination in South Boston.
