Fuerteventura will host the highly anticipated Canarias Game Show (CGS) on June 27 and 28, transforming the Municipal Sports Pavilion of Morro Jable into a vibrant hub dedicated to video games, technology, and innovation. This event promises to be a thrilling experience for gaming enthusiasts and newcomers alike, turning Morro Jable into the epicenter of digital entertainment and esports.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Government of the Canary Islands, is presented in collaboration with the Department of New Technologies of the Fuerteventura Island Council and the Pájara Town Hall. This supportive framework highlights the commitment of local authorities to foster technological advancements and creative industries in the region.
Over the course of two exciting days, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with a variety of interactive experiences. Gaming areas will feature high-performance computers, PlayStation 5s, Nintendo Switch 2 consoles, and immersive virtual reality experiences, all ensuring there’s something for everyone, regardless of age or gaming proficiency.
The programming schedule is jam-packed with competitions, including tournaments for popular titles like Tekken 8, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, and FC 26. Additionally, collectible card game battles such as Pokémon, Riftbound, and the One Piece Card Game will engage participants in strategic gameplay, allowing fans to showcase their skills and passion.
One of the standout features of this year’s event is the Game Jam, where interdisciplinary teams will hastily develop video game prototypes and tech projects within a limited timeframe. Carmen Alonso, the counselor for New Technologies at the Fuerteventura Island Council, emphasized the remarkable career prospects within the video game industry. In an effort to enhance accessibility, the event organizers will provide a free transportation service between the northern and southern areas of Fuerteventura. This initiative aims to encourage widespread participation and ensure that everyone can experience all that CGS has to offer.
Following successful editions in Gran Canaria and La Palma, Canarias Game Show culminates its journey in Fuerteventura before wrapping up in Tenerife.
