Not only did the festival showcase spectacular aerial displays, but it also featured a variety of activities focused on sustainability and environmental respect.

Perfect Weather Conditions for Kite Flying

One of the highlights this year was the ideal weather conditions. Attendees enjoyed nearly a week of warm, sunny weather with gentle winds, perfect for kite flying. Over 200 kite enthusiasts from across Europe gathered to display their skills, engaging in both static and acrobatic flights. The stunning environment of the Corralejo dunes, located alongside the shimmering sea, provided a picturesque setting that enhanced the overall experience for festival-goers.

Family-Friendly Activities Galore

Beyond captivating kite displays, the festival boasted a rich program of family-friendly activities. Attendees could participate in workshops aimed at building kites and learning about the art of kite flying. Additionally, environmental tours provided insights into the local ecosystem, allowing families to connect with nature in a meaningful way. The festival also included competitions that engaged all ages, ensuring a fun-filled atmosphere for everyone.

The evening events were particularly noteworthy. Concerts and drone shows lit up the night sky. A staggering 300 drones took to the air, captivating audiences during Friday and Saturday nights with their synchronized displays. The bay of Corralejo was packed with spectators, creating a lively ambiance that perfectly complemented the festival’s offerings.

Raising the Bar for Future Festivals

Raúl Rivero, the organizer of the kite festival, expressed great satisfaction with this year’s results. “The audience responded with enthusiasm, and the beach was buzzing day after day,” he noted. Both the concerts and drone shows enjoyed full attendance, showcasing the festival’s growth and its significance in the kite flying community. Rivero highlighted the event’s international appeal, stating that kite flyers now mark this festival on their calendars. “Corralejo has become a reference point across Europe and is recognized as one of the most important kite festivals globally,” he asserted.

The Grand Finale and Spectacular Competitions

The festival concluded with an exhilarating display of acrobatic kites that left audiences in awe due to their impressive synchronization and aerial artistry. The anticipated Rokaku kite battles captivated the crowd as agile competitors engaged in a strategic showdown to see whose kite would be the last one standing. With precise movements, participants aimed to destabilize each other’s kites, creating a thrilling spectacle that enthralled spectators.

The event wrapped up with a trophy ceremony that culminated in an unforgettable experience for both participants and onlookers. As the last kites retired from the sky, the excitement lingered, leaving festival-goers eagerly anticipating next year’s return.
