The vibrant town of La Oliva is buzzing with excitement as it gears up for a delightful musical event: the annual Blues and Jazz Festival. Organized by the local government through the Culture Department, headed by David Hernández, and in collaboration with the Cultural Council of the Cabildo Insular de Fuerteventura, led by Rayco León, this festival promises to be a captivating showcase of some of the best talent in these beloved genres.

Location and Time Adjustments

This year, the festival will take place on Avenida Nuestra Señora del Carmen in Corralejo, a picturesque setting that adds to the charm of the event. In response to community feedback, the local authorities have adjusted the festival’s starting time to 7:00 PM, one hour earlier than previous years. This change aims to lessen noise disruptions for residents living nearby, allowing everyone to enjoy the music without feeling overwhelmed by late-night sounds.

Over the course of three days, the festival will bring together a dynamic lineup of artists, featuring local talents, national stars, and international names.

On Thursday, October 23, festival-goers can look forward to a fantastic start with performances from noteworthy local groups such as Johele, Indunas, the Jazz Street Project, and Arsénico. Each of these artists brings their unique flavor, infusing the evening with local culture and rhythm.

Blues Night Takes Center Stage

The following night, Friday, October 24, will be dedicated to the blues, promising an electrifying mix of talent. Headlining the evening will be The Electric Soul Company from Chicago, alongside JJ Thames & Luca Giordano Band, representing the USA and Italy respectively, as well as Martín Burguez & Hits Rhythm Combo from Uruguay and Barcelona. To kick off this exciting night, the lively sounds of The Plunger Dixie Band will energize the crowd with a performance at 6:00 PM, setting the stage for a memorable night of blues.

The Grand Finale of Jazz

The festival will culminate on Saturday, October 25, when Corralejo will resonate with the smooth sounds of jazz. Artists like Combo Paraiso from Madrid, Latino Blanco & Mark Nightingale from the UK and Valencia, and Jesse David hailing from Louisiana and New Orleans will grace the stage, creating an unforgettable evening filled with rich harmonies and soulful performances.
