Together, they are proud to announce the inaugural ‘Meeting Internacional de Atletismo de Fuerteventura’ set to take place on May 30 and 31. This event aims not only to foster competitive athletics but also to enhance the international recognition of the Centro de Atletismo Insular de Fuerteventura (CAIF).

Key Highlights of the Event

The meeting is expected to draw considerable attention, featuring the distinguished Olympic medalist Ruth Beitia as the event’s ambassador. A total of 68 participants from various countries, including Spain, Poland, Great Britain, Scotland, and the Czech Republic, will compete in a range of disciplines. Athletes will showcase their talents in combined events, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, and hammer throw, aiming for the coveted podium spots.

Having Ruth Beitia as our event ambassador elevates us beyond our borders, attracting new enthusiasts eager to engage with our competitions and facilities in La Oliva’s unique environment.”

Historical Significance & Infrastructure Investments

The president of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, Lola García, views the event as a historical milestone. She highlights, “The Meeting Internacional de Atletismo de Fuerteventura is a groundbreaking event—the first international athletics competition taking place on the island, which is a source of pride for us.” García emphasizes the importance of continual investment in high-quality sports infrastructure, arguing that such investments not only attract major events but also promote a culture of health and activity.
