Fuerteventura en Música 2025: A Celebration of Culture and Community

Introduction to FEM 2025

The Fuerteventura en Música (FEM) festival is set to take place on July 4th and 5th, 2025, promising a vibrant celebration of music and culture. Coordinated by the Cultural Department of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, the Cotillo Joven association, and the Town Hall of La Oliva, this year’s festival offers an exciting lineup of activities aimed at invigorating the charming village of El Cotillo. With a mission to promote sustainability, music, and cultural diversity, FEM serves as a fantastic platform for both local and visiting talents.

Day One: A Musical Kick-off

The festival kicks off on Friday, July 4th, in the heart of El Cotillo’s public square. The day’s events start with an engaging Cre-Activo workshop led by Alessandro Ferrato, which focuses on making instruments from recycled materials. This initiative not only promotes creativity but also highlights sustainable practices, aligning perfectly with the festival’s ethos.

At 6:00 PM, the energetically anticipated pasacalle will commence, featuring the lively The Plunger Dixie Band. This group, comprising seven talented musicians from Fuerteventura’s jazz and swing scene, will parade through the streets of El Cotillo, fully embracing the spirit of celebration. Their upbeat sound and expressive performance will transition the crowd from the plaza to the main stage located at La Concha beach, setting a festive tone for the festival.

Day Two: Diverse Activities and Performances

The excitement continues on Saturday, July 5th, as events shift to the picturesque area of Muellito, starting at noon. The day promises a filled schedule, beginning with Caribbean beats from DJ Papaya Subtropical and an energetic performance by Sudakita and El Yeye. Their music will create a vibrant atmosphere, inviting community members to come together and enjoy an afternoon of fun and rhythm.

As the clock strikes 12:30 PM, attendees can participate in a dance and African percussion workshop facilitated by the local group Percusión Africana Fuerteventura. This hands-on experience is not just about learning; it’s an invitation to immerse oneself in the rich sounds and traditions of African music.

Performances throughout the day include the energetic Africa Yeah at 1:30 PM, followed by Agua del Chorro at 3:00 PM, and closing things out with the lively Orquesta Informal at 4:30 PM. Each act adds a unique flavor to the festival, showcasing the diverse musical landscape of Fuerteventura.

A Community Spirit

What makes FEM truly special is its focus on community engagement and sustainability. Each workshop and performance is designed to ensure that participants leave with not only enjoyment but also a deeper appreciation for their cultural heritage and the environment. By utilizing recycled materials and promoting local artists, the festival exemplifies how cultural events can thrive while remaining mindful of their ecological footprint.

Conclusion

Fuerteventura en Música 2025 reflects a commitment to celebrating cultural diversity while fostering an inclusive community spirit. Whether it’s through workshops, parades, or live performances, the festival is poised to provide unforgettable experiences for all attendees. The combination of local talent, sustainability, and joy will surely make this event a highlight of the summer—one that locals and visitors alike will look forward to enjoying together.
