El Festival Fuerteventura en Música: Celebrating 20 Years of Cultural Diversity
The Fuerteventura en Música Festival (FEM) is set to light up El Cotillo once again, marking its 20th edition on July 3rd and 4th. The festivities kick off on July 3rd at the Plaza Pública in El Cotillo. The day begins with an innovative workshop titled “No tires nada, tócalo primero”, led by sound artist Alessandro Ferrato. Participants will learn to transform everyday materials into musical instruments, blending artistic experimentation with eco-consciousness.
Following this interactive workshop, the atmosphere will electrify with a lively pasacalle led by the local batucada group, Corumba de El Cotillo. This festive procession will wind through the town, inviting locals and tourists alike to revel in the spirit of FEM.
Highlights of the Second Day
On July 4th, the action shifts to Muelle Chico, where the cultural collective Papaya Subtropical will present an engaging session focused on roots music and contemporary global sounds. Curated by renowned DJs Sudakita and El Yeye, this segment has grown into a staple of Fuerteventura’s alternative cultural scene.
In addition to captivating musical acts, the festival will also host a workshop on Afro-Guinean dance and percussion, organized by the Associação Percusión Africana Fuerteventura. This initiative aims to bridge cultural gaps by showcasing the richness of West African music, dance, and intercultural exchange.
Live Music Acts
The live music lineup features exciting performances from Naby Zana Band, led by Guinean artist Naby Cámara. The band’s unique fusion of traditional African rhythms with Canarian and Latin American influences promises a captivating auditory experience.

The main stage at Playa de La Concha will showcase both national and international artists over the two days of the festival. On July 3rd, fans can look forward to performances from dynamic acts such as Femi Kuti & The Positive Force, Eskorzo, La Sra. Tomasa, Chanela Clicka, Marta Umpiérrez, and DJ Woodhands.
The following day will feature an impressive roster including Antonio Carmona, Pongo, Queralt Lahoz, Kumbia Boruka, Arife, alongside DJ Woodhands, who is set to keep the energy high throughout the event.
