A New Paradigm: From Isolated Locations to Comprehensive Productions

Nereida Calero, the director of the Fuerteventura Film Commission, has highlighted a notable transformation in the island’s filming landscape. She observes that “In recent years, Fuerteventura has undergone a shift in its filming model: the island is increasingly being chosen for entire productions or significant portions of them, increasing the demand for local professionals.” This transformation is not merely superficial; it signifies a qualitative leap where production companies actively seek out not just picturesque locations but full technical teams capable of handling every facet of audiovisual projects.

First Training Block: Set Design, Scriptwriting, and Sound Post-Production

The educational program is set to launch with three specialized courses running from May to July, hosted at the Palace of Training and Congresses in Fuerteventura. Kicking off the series is the Set Design course, scheduled from May 4 to 8, led by renowned art director Marcelo Pacheco, who brings over 30 years of experience with acclaimed productions such as La catedral del mar, La Señora, and La Favorita 1922.

Registration for this inaugural course opens on April 27 and will remain available until April 30, through the official website www.fuerteventurafilmcommission.es. This program promises to provide a comprehensive overview of the creative process, from the initial conceptualization to the execution of real-world projects.
