In a significant move that has sent ripples through the football community, Liverpool FC has secured the signing of Spanish forward Victor Munoz from Osasuna for a reported fee of £34.5 million ($45.5 million). This acquisition marks a pivotal moment for the club as they prepare for the upcoming season, especially following the recent managerial changes.

Victor Munoz, currently representing Spain in the World Cup, has already completed a medical examination at the national team’s training base in Tennessee. The 22-year-old has agreed to a six-year contract with the Premier League giants, making him the first signing for new Reds boss Andoni Iraola, who took over after the departure of Arne Slot.

In an official statement, Liverpool FC confirmed the deal, noting that it is subject to a successful work permit application and international clearance. This announcement has generated excitement among fans, who are eager to see how Munoz will fit into the team’s dynamic.

Prior to Liverpool’s successful bid, Newcastle United was reportedly in advanced negotiations to sign Munoz, especially after selling Anthony Gordon to Barcelona. Other clubs, including Manchester United and Bayer Leverkusen, also expressed interest in the talented forward. However, Liverpool’s decisive action in triggering the release clause in Munoz’s contract ultimately swayed him to Anfield.

Last season, Munoz showcased his talent by scoring seven goals and providing five assists in 36 appearances for Osasuna. His versatility allows him to play on either flank, a crucial asset for Iraola as he looks to fill the significant void left by Mohamed Salah’s departure during the close season.

Munoz’s football journey began at Barcelona’s renowned La Masia youth academy, where he honed his skills before making a brief stint at Real Madrid, where he made only two appearances. His move to Osasuna in July 2025 marked a turning point in his career, allowing him to gain valuable experience and develop into a promising player.

On the international stage, Munoz has already made two appearances for Spain, having debuted in March. He is expected to join his new teammates at Liverpool later this summer, once the World Cup concludes, adding to the anticipation surrounding his arrival.

In addition to Munoz, Liverpool is reportedly eyeing teenage forward Yan Diomande, who currently plays for German club Leipzig and is also participating in the World Cup with the Ivory Coast. This interest in young talent reflects Liverpool’s commitment to building a strong and dynamic squad for the future.

Furthermore, Liverpool has already secured the signing of French defender Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes, a deal that was negotiated earlier this year and is set to be finalized in July. This proactive approach in the transfer market indicates the club’s ambition to strengthen its roster ahead of the new season.
