  • On October 28, the Town Hall of La Oliva, through its Commerce Department led by Alexandra Martín, announced the highly anticipated gastronomic event ‘Los Lajares de Tapeo.’ This exciting celebration will take place on November 1 and 2 at the Mercadillo Artesanal de Lajares, where locals and visitors can indulge in the best of local gastronomy, live music, and traditional crafts. The standout feature of the event will be a diverse array of tapas and small dishes crafted by local chefs, who will showcase their culinary skills while incorporating innovative techniques. Attendees can expect a wide range of flavors, from delectable seafood to the robust tastes of the land.

    The event aims to establish itself as a premier commercial and gastronomic attraction in Fuerteventura, shining a spotlight on local cuisine and traditions. ‘Los Lajares de Tapeo’ is scheduled for Friday, November 1, from 6 PM to 10 PM, and Saturday from 10 AM to midnight. The inviting atmosphere of the Lajares artisan market will be enlivened with live music, ensuring an enjoyable experience for all ages. Visitors will have the chance to purchase unique local products, participate in culinary workshops, and enjoy hands-on activities that will bring culinary techniques closer to both children and adults.

    Isaí Blanco, the mayor of La Oliva, emphasizes the importance of this gastronomic event: “‘Los Lajares de Tapeo’ brings the best of our tasting experience, unique handmade products, and farm-to-table foods closer to our community and visitors. This special gathering is a unique opportunity to enjoy the finest culinary activities, gastronomy, and traditions of La Oliva this weekend.”

    Alexandra Martín, the Commerce Councillor, adds, “Through this unique event in the heart of Los Lajares, we aim to attract tourists and residents to experience a celebration filled with flavors, music, and tradition. Our goal is to ensure that ‘Los Lajares de Tapeo’ becomes a platform for showcasing the best of our local cuisine and commerce, allowing the remarkable talent of our municipality and our customs to shine.”

    Additionally, ‘Los Lajares de Tapeo’ will feature collaboration with Fuertegourmet Association and Relajarte Association. The Tourism and Environment Department, led by David Fajardo, will have a stand providing information on sustainable tourism, while the Public Health Department, under Christian González, will represent the La Oliva Animal Shelter. This commitment reflects the local government’s dedication to highlighting local gastronomy and talent, making the event accessible for the entire family.
