This year’s event will kick off on Friday, July 5th, at 6:00 PM with a lively street parade led by The Plunger Dixie Band. The procession will begin in the public square of El Cotillo and wind its way to the main stage located on the picturesque La Concha beach.
The Plunger Dixie Band: Kicking Off the Festivities
Comprising seven talented musicians, The Plunger Dixie Band is renowned for its spirited performances rooted in the jazz and swing scenes of Fuerteventura. Their upbeat sound and lively expressions will set the perfect tone for the festival, as they entertain and energize the crowd during their journey through the streets of El Cotillo to the main stage.
Saturday’s Schedule: Workshops and Musical Extravaganza
Saturday, July 6th, promises to be equally engaging. The day will start early with Canarian percussion workshops hosted by the company Pieles at 12:00 PM in the public square of El Cotillo. This is a fantastic opportunity for festival-goers to immerse themselves in local musical traditions, providing hands-on experience and enriching the festival’s cultural offerings.
Following the workshops, activities will migrate to the muelito of Cotillo at 1:00 PM, featuring a DJ session by Papaya Subtropical. Known for their unique blend of African and Latin rhythms fused with electronic beats, their set will create an atmosphere ripe for dance and celebration.
A Global Rhythm Experience
At 2:00 PM, festival attendees can look forward to another workshop, this time on African percussion and dance, facilitated by Hermanos Thioune. This workshop aims to connect participants not only with rhythm but also with the rich cultural heritage that it embodies.
Participants of all ages can expect more entertaining activities starting at 3:00 PM, as Papaya Subtropical returns for another exhilarating set. Alongside them, engaging recycling workshops for children will teach the young ones the importance of sustainability in an entertaining and educational manner.
As the clock strikes 4:00 PM, the stage will be set for Hermanos Thioune to perform once again, followed by another round of pulsating beats from Zamundance, a duo known for their electrifying DJ performances at 5:00 PM.
To conclude a day full of energy and excitement, the musical group Son de Aquí y de Allá will take center stage at 6:00 PM to bring the alluring rhythms of Cuban music to life, ensuring a grand finish to the festival’s vibrant offerings.
